Take the backroads with a Yarra Valley local and enjoy some of the region’s finest food and wine tucked away among the rolling hills of Victoria’s oldest wine region
A relaxing tour full of inclusions
After meeting in the city, we’ll take the scenic route via one of Victoria’s first goldrush towns. Kangaroos are often spotted on cooler days. Our first stop is Coombe Estate, the famous residence of Dame Nellie Melba (once the highest paid singer in the world!) for a delightful Devonshire tea.
From there it’s a short drive to the Yarra Valley Dairy where, in a converted 100-year-old milking shed, we sample some of their sumptuous cheeses.
Lunch is beckoning, but not before we indulge in a bit of wine tasting. Tokar Estate is a family run winery just up the road. With some outstanding local wines, you’re sure to be impressed.
But it’s not just the wines that are impressive here, but the food too. For that reason, after sampling their wines, we’ll settle in for a two-course lunch as well. Along with a glass of wine, of course.
And just wait till you see the view!
After lunch we’ll take you to a real hidden gem, Squitchy Lane. With just a few acres of vineyard, they produce some fine, cool climate, small batch wines. This place really is off the beaten track… well, at the end of a meandering dirt track. Meaning you won’t find coachloads of tourists here; only fine wines and another beautiful view.
The relaxation could finish here, but we’d rather take a short drive through the vineyards, farmlands and forests to one of our favourite secluded spots where we’ll stop for some afternoon tea amongst the fresh mountain air and beautiful rural scenery.
Finally, we’ll head back to the city with some great memories, a full stomach, and perhaps a bottle or two if you’ve decided to purchase more of something you’ve really enjoyed along the way.
This is a private tour, so you do not need to spend the day with anyone else, other than your experienced, accredited local guide.
It is designed to show off some of the region’s wonderful food, wine and scenery. It lasts a full day (8-9 hours), though is not rushed and certainly not heavy on the alcohol like some winery tours. All tastings and food listed above are included.

Children who do not require a baby/booster seat are welcome as part of a family group, however please note that anyone under 18 years of age cannot by law consume alcohol and therefore will not be able to participate in wine tastings.
We reserve the right to alter the itinerary due to circumstance beyond our control. In the unlikely event that this is necessary, any alternate venue will have offerings of equal quality and value.
